Lenawee Now representatives Jack Townsley and Kelly McNicol attended the Employer Provided Innovation Challenges (EPIC) Summer Meeting on June 24 in Washington, D.C. They attended this U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation event to learn more about how to connect students to careers, increase awareness of in-demand industries, and equip students with employability skills.
“EPIC gives students the chance to tackle real-world challenges while building critical soft skills that employers in every industry are seeking – and often struggling to find. Over the past two years, we’ve supported EPIC teams at Addison High School, Morenci High School, and the LISD Tech Center. These students have partnered with major local employers, including Meijer, Align Center for Workforce Development, and chemical companies within Lenawee Now’s Chemical Industry Collaborative, to develop solutions to actual business problems,” said Kelly McNicol, Career Education Navigator. “My vision is to see every school district in Lenawee County involved, with students working alongside local organizations and employers to make a meaningful impact right here in our community.”
