The following program is brought to you by Lenawee Now and Align Center for Workforce Development. Building a more vibrant Lenawee County.

Chuck Chase: Hello, my name is Chuck Chase and I’m a career navigator with Lenawee Now and the Align Center for Workforce Development I’m here today with Pat Farver who is the Executive Director of Lenawee Now. We’re here today to talk about a very special event we have coming up in partnership with the Greater Lenawee Chamber and Bill Kenyon, who is a professional trainer with the John Maxwell Corporation. The event is scheduled for Monday, October 30th at the Center in Adrian on U. S. 223 and will feature Ann Arbor native, best-selling author, and motivational speaker John U. Bacon. John has a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in education from the University of Michigan where he still teaches. John has spent many years pursuing his passion for radio, television, coaching, and teaching. He often appears on HBO, ESPN, Fox Business, MSNBC, and the Big Ten Network. John has written articles for the Detroit News and the New York Times. He is also an executive coach and a consultant, and among John’s clients are Microsoft, Google, and General Motors, just to name a few. Now I’d like to turn things over to Pat, who will speak about the two previous events and let listeners hear more specific details about the upcoming event itself.

Pat Farver:  Thanks, Chuck. Yes, this will be our third Economic Club event. In November of last year, Dr. Jeff Docking, President of Adrian College spoke about his book titled The College of the Future and the issues that small liberal arts colleges in America face. Then, this past May, we invited Stephanie Ludwig, who is the program manager from the Economic Development and Growth Institute at the University of Michigan, and she spoke about the funding that businesses in Lenawee County would be eligible for.

Our third event is fast approaching, and as Chuck said, is scheduled for the 30th of October. Participants will have a chance to hear from John U. Bacon, who has written over a dozen books, many of which are about iconic Michigan Wolverines and various coaching staff. His latest book, entitled, Let Them Lead, Unexpected Lessons in Leadership from the World’s Worst High School Hockey Team recaps his time as a high school coach and the amazing leadership principles he used to turn that team around.

A special VIP lunch with John has been scheduled for individuals who not only register for the lunch but with our sponsors as well, beginning at 11 o’clock that morning at the center. He will then be making his formal presentation in the main auditorium at 1 p.m. for anyone who registers. General registration is $40, chamber members $30, and students 25.

John will then conduct a two-hour executive training session for our sponsors. Also, anyone who registers for the VIP lunch will automatically receive free tickets to both John’s presentation and training. I also want to add that all attendees will receive a free copy of his book, Let Them Lead, Compliments of Creek Enterprise.

I did want to mention our other major sponsors, whose generous support is making this event possible. They are Adrian Steel, Brazeway, Clift, Buick GMC, County National Bank, Bill Kenyon, the Farver Foundation, and Adrian College, who will be bringing 60 students. So far, we have 115 people registered to attend John’s presentation, and expect close to 200.

All event sponsors will receive free tickets to the event. As well as to the VIP lunch and executive training session and will be recognized the day of the event as well as on the official registration site for more information about this event. Whether you would like to be a sponsor or simply registered, please go to LenaweeNow.org. That’s LenaweeNow.org.

Chuck Chase: We hope everyone will check it out and join us on Monday, October 30th.
