Adrian College Top Ranked Private College For Social Mobility | Adrian College

A recent report released by Bridge, a news magazine in Michigan, highlights how some Michigan colleges are leading the way in successfully launching economically challenged students to a better and more prosperous future. Adrian College lauded recognition, ranking first in the state among private colleges and a top five selection overall as a college which advocates for social mobility.

Emory and Kris Schmidt were awarded the Addison J. Comstock Award in a moving tribute at the chamber’s annual dinner and awards ceremony Wednesday at Adrian College.
The honor is presented to those who aggressively promote growth within the community, actively work to improve the quality of life for people in the area and are active leaders on various levels in the community. Community contributions by the Schmidts are numerous, presenters said, but a big part of their recognition was for what they’ve done for the Croswell Opera House and in turn the greater community. Emory Schmidt is president of the Croswell’s board of trustees.

Tecumseh’s farmers market to relocate | The Daily Telegram

The former Hamblin Co. property on North Evans Street is now being prepared to host the farmers market this upcoming season, according to city manager Dan Swallow’s report to city council.

Paula Holtz, Tecumseh’s economic development director, said the city in conjunction with the Downtown Development Authority purchased this new site along with two other properties in an effort to direct the future of the important corridor — an entrance into downtown. — The Daily Telegram
