MADISON SCHOOL DISTRICT RECEIVES GRANT

Funds Support Elementary Mathematics Curriculum

MADISON TWP., ADRIAN, MI – Madison School District is the recipient of a $500 grant from the MEEMIC Foundation to support the inclusion of hands-on, real-life lessons in elementary math instruction. Materials purchased through grant funds will allow for project-based math instruction in the district’s Indoor Athletic Facility. Staff will use the multi-purpose area to deliver lessons requiring critical thinking in scenarios to enhance regular classroom instruction. Students will observe and construct real-life projects using mathematical concepts that require the extra space that the IAF provides.

“Having this type of area for instruction is unique for a school district. Staff are interested in using this space for lessons that allow students to use geometrical and engineering concepts to reach a common goal or solve a real-life problem. Project-based learning opportunities such as this provide relevance to the lesson and help to increase student proficiency and academic
growth.” ~ Ryan Rowe, Superintendent
