Lenawee Now was recognized by the Mid-America Economic Development Council (MAEDC) for its marketing efforts. Two awards, one for first place and another as a finalist, were presented at the 2016 Mid-America Competitiveness Conference & Site Selector Forum in Chicago, IL.

“Its an honor to be recognized by an organization that represents economic development peers in ten states,” said Jim Van Doren, Executive Director of Lenawee Now. “Not only is it exposure for our community on a public platform, but gives us another chance to show how our internship program has added such value to our organization. Both of the projects nominated and recognized by MAEDC this year were supported by student interns from Adrian College and Siena Heights University.”

Lenawee Now was honored with the first place award in the Business Retention & Expansion category for small markets, which was for “specific initiatives that are designed to retain or expand existing industries.” The winning entry was the Lenawee Now toolbox infographic, an eight-page print piece to inform local businesses of available funding and incentive programs.

Lenawee Now was also a finalist for its Made in Lenawee book in the Marketing Program category, which was for “an overall comprehensive marketing program to market a community, county, state, or region to a prospect.” The Made in Lenawee book is a centennial anniversary publication that showcases the rich manufacturing history of Lenawee County over the last 100 years.

The award entries were divided into two categories: large market (annual marketing budget over $100,000) and small market (annual marketing budget under $100,000).
